Churchyard

A churchyard is regulated by the local Diocesan area of the Church of England, therefore subject to strict rules regarding the type of memorial permitted (the materials used, size and shape as well as colour of stone and paint used for the lettering)
  • The inscription must be approved by the vicar, we complete all paperwork for you
  • Nicknames or certain words and phrases may be objected to
  • Most Churchyards do not allow Black granite, Open books, Heart shaped stones
  • Red granite is permitted in some churchyards
  • White Marble infant graves only
  • Sandstone and Limestone permitted in most but they weather quicker
  • Light and Dark grey granites
  • All memorial stones normally have to be a honed (fine rubbed) non-shiny finish
